First Underwater Fashion Shoot in the Turks & Caicos

I spend a good portion of my time photographing people. When I’m not doing that, you often can find me in the ocean with my camera. So it was only a matter of time before I combined the two.

I’ve been dying to do an underwater fashion shoot ever since I saw a similar concept in a dive magazine more than a year ago. What I didn’t realize is how much work and planning goes into the process. We spent about two months planning for this shoot, although the images make it look effortless. We had to track down models who would look comfortable underwater and find special dresses that would flow naturally. Although you may not be able to tell from the photos, I shot them in a pool, which required two 20×30 backdrops and a custom-made underwater cable for lighting. We also had studio lights at the edge of the pool, which was nerve-racking, to say the least. We began setting up at 11 a.m. and didn’t wrap up the shoot until after dark.

But it was worth it. I’m extremely pleased with the results, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of everyone involved. Thanks for helping me bring my vision to life.
