Wedding in Turks and Caicos

Kelly & Chris

Kelly and Chris came to the Turks and Caicos for a destination wedding. Although they had their wedding ceremony at the Beaches resort where they stayed, they wanted their photo shoot to have a little ‘island flare’ so they decided to book us for one of our island escape wedding packages.

On May 17th, I met Kelly and Chris at their resort and we began a fun morning touring the island. For the first part of the shoot we drove towards Turtle Cove Marina and took some photos at Smith’s Reef beach. Later on we drove to the Blue Hills area where we stopped at the Conch Shack and Sailing Paradise for some colorful backgrounds.

For the last part of the shoot we drove to one of my favorite spots on the island, Taylor Bay beach. This is an incredible place to take photographs, especially during the morning hours as the high sun creates some incredible blues on the water. The shoot came to a refreshing end here on Taylor Bay when Kelly and Chris got into the water!

A Seven Stars Wedding in Turks and Caicos

Weddings in Turks and Caicos are always fun. Even when the heavens open up as vows are exchanged and the couple squeezes together under a large blue umbrella, the wedding still turns out to be a beautiful affair, with laughter  with love, with great times. Whitney and Daniel’s wedding combined two resorts (Regent Grand and Seven Stars), loads of close family and friends (Daniel has 7 brothers and sisters). The weather was not the highlight of their day. The awesome Laura and even the General Manager of the resort (Ken) made sure of that (what service!). Exchanging vows and celebrating with those that matter was. Another great wedding in Turks and Caicos.

The wedding of Eleanor & Matthew at Parrot Cay

After shooting weddings in the Turks & Caicos for over ten years, I still get excited every time I have the opportunity to photograph a wedding at the beautiful resort of Parrot Cay.
The resort, which is located on a small private island, is very exclusive and it’s relaxing atmosphere makes it the perfect location for big or small weddings.
On May 9th I took a 30 minute boat ride to the island where I was warmly welcomed by the staff at the Parrot Cay dock. I was there to photograph a very small wedding with just the bride and groom.

I first meet with Matthew at the old resort SPA where he told me that Eleanor, his wife-to-be, was the first girl he kissed when they were just kids. Matthew and Eleanor planned their wedding just a few weeks prior to their special day. They knew that they wanted something very laid back and relaxed and Parrot Cay was the perfect place.

Their ceremony took place on the beach, attended by a few people that Matthew and Eleanor had met in the resort during their vacation.

Here are a few images from their wedding day…..

Christine & Ruben’s Island Escape from Sandy.

Early November 2012 Hurricane Sandy made a mess of New York.  Airports closed, flights were cancelled and for several weeks it was chaos (understatement). Sadly Christine and Ruben’s destination wedding in Turks and Caicos could not go ahead as planned – but last week Christine and Ruben did finally make it down to Turks and Caicos to have a beach/island photo shoot in their wedding clothes. It would be all too easy not to make this effort, so it was lovely to be able to help the two of them capture some moments together with the beautiful Turks and Caicos backdrop.

Jeanna and James’ wedding at Southfleetwood.

A hidden gem on Grace Bay beach is Southfleetwood villa with its rustic charm, beautiful gardens and a vibe that just makes you step back in time, relax and decompress from our modern technology driven world. Jeana and Jame’s wedding was going to be just the two of them, but the communal nature of the villa soon had them meeting fellow guests they wanted to have share in their celebrations.  Low key, relaxed, personal – everything a destination wedding should be.

Karen and Andrew’s Elopement

I wonder how many brides planning  the standard 300-400 person wedding this summer in New York or Washington will cast an envious eye at the simplicity and fun of a barefoot elopement in Turks and Caicos? Everyone has a different dream and it was wonderful to help Karen and Andrew with theirs. Rather than a quick 30-40 minutes on the beach we helped them create a story around the island including some of our favourite places. A combination of simplicity – its was just them and the barefoot elegance that is Turks and Caicos.Read More »Karen and Andrew’s Elopement
