We were very lucky to document a traditional Nigerian wedding ceremony here in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Choya has his roots in Nigeria and wanted to incorporate his background into his wedding here in the Turks and Caicos. The Nigerian wedding ceremony was a spectacle and not too mention one of the most colorful. The Nigerian wedding ceremony starts with negotiations between both families. Even decoy brides are brought in to confuse the groom of his love for his bride. Money is being offered to get the real bride to the groom. Finally after meeting with his real bride both families are joined together and the celebration of their unity can begin. Lots of dancing is involved and again lots of money is being sprayed and given to the bride and groom. The color and headpieces worn by both families according to Nigerian custom are magnificent. Choya and Meredith, thank you for letting us be a part of this more than entertaining Nigerian wedding ceremony in the Turks and Caicos Island. For our blog followers, stay tuned for their wedding day part two the next day. The venue for getting ready: Villa Seacliff. The Nigerian ceremony venue: Villa Vieux Caribe.
