Turks and Caicos beach wedding

Lia and I used to work together and one thing I remember her saying was that if she ever were to have a Turks and Caicos beach wedding, she would want me to be her photographer!

Three weeks ago, Lia and Joe had their wedding and sure enough, I took great pride in being their photographer. After looking at a few different locations for their wedding ceremony, they decided on it being on Little Water Cay.

Lia got ready at a rented private villa in Long Bay whilst Joe got ready at the home of his parents, also in Long Bay. Unbeknown to most of their guests, Lia and Joe had their ‘first look’ at The Palms Resort and Spa before heading to Blue Haven Marina to catch their respective boats to the small island.

Joe and his family and the rest of the wedding guests boarded the beautiful sail boat, The Atabeyra, whilst Lia, her mother and sisters and some of her girlfriends were taken over to the island on Caicos Catalyst.

Around an hour before sunset, Lia arrived to the Island where the ceremony was going to take place. Joe and the Atabeyra guests were waiting in anticipation for the beautiful bride. And boy was she a beautiful bride! The ceremony took place under a stunning driftwood arch, put together by some of their friends.

Following the ceremony, we had some time to spend taking photographs of friends and family on this beautiful deserted island, as well as pictures of the happy couple. Before heading back to Providenciales on the Atabeyra, everybody enjoyed a few cocktails while watching the sunset.

The wedding reception took place at Opus restaurant and was the start of an evening of celebration that went on into the early hours! Congratulations to Lia and Joe on their beautiful wedding and thank you for letting me be the one to capture it.

elopement in Parrot Cay

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a secluded elopement in Parrot Cay, one of the finest islands of the Turks and Caicos. Anett and Miklos are a couple who spend half of each year living in New York for work and the other half in their home country of Hungary. With the intention of doing a larger wedding in Hungary later with family and friends, they first chose to get away together for a more secretive and intimate beach wedding at a beautiful private villa in Parrot Cay.

On March 15th, I took a twenty-five minute private resort ferry to the island where I met Nadia, the lovely wedding planner, who was waiting for me at the dock. After a short drive to their private and very beautiful villa, I met Anett and Miklos and knew straight away that not only was this going to be a special day, it was going to be a fun day!

The wedding ceremony took place on the beach in front of their private villa. Seeing as it was just the two of them, we could afford to start the ceremony a bit later. After the ceremony, we had plenty of time to take photos along the beach and as the weather was faultless, we even had the chance to fly our drone for some extra special aerial pictures.

Following a beautiful sunset and a fun wedding shoot, it was time for me to make my way back to the marina to catch the private resort ferry back to the island of Providenciales.

Wedding on Leeward Beach

What we love about weddings here in the islands is that we go from the over two hundred guests weddings, to couples only weddings where the wedding takes place on Leeward Beach. Leeward beach is a very private beach here in Providenciales and so suitable for the smaller, intimate weddings.

Turks and Caicos most exclusive wedding

Brilliant Studios has been photographing weddings here for the last twenty years and we are proud to have now photographed Turks and Caicos most exclusive wedding yet. Anita and I first met with Robin Lathrop the owner of ByRobin, Inc an Event Management Company who specializes in logistically challenging events all over the world, Lindsey and Cody and Lindsey’s mother a couple of months prior to discuss the plans for their big day. It didn’t take long for us to realize that this was going to be a spectacular wedding. With over two hundred guests and activities that were planned to take place over three days, it was going to take three photographers and a team of videographers to capture this wedding extravaganza of the year! And where would be the perfect venue to hold such an exclusive wedding event? The Gansevoort, Turks and Caicos. To achieve Robin Lathrop’s vision her team needed to bring in containers including such things as lighting, sound, video and specialty decor that could not be sourced here on the island. Over fifty work permits were arranged for her team of specialist brought in to set up and execute the events.  In addition, she brought two bands to perform at the wedding and the beach party. Extra catering staff on island were employed by the Gansevoort to ensure that Lindsey and Cody and their wedding guests had every need attended to. One of the most incredible things about this whole wedding, for me, was where the ceremony and wedding reception took place… The ByRobin team custom built a platform over the resort swimming pool. The flowers, the decorations, the music, the lighting, the food and, of course, the bride and groom and their families made this a beautiful and impressive event. An event that we, here at Brilliant Studios, were extremely proud to have been chosen to capture. Location Wedding: Gansevoort Resort Turks and Caicos. Event Management Company ByRobin, Inc.  A big Thanks to Chrystel  Loyer from Chrystallize photography for all her assistance. Somerset Resort wedding. Michelle and Neal

We first met with Michelle and Neal in August when they were making plans and preparations for their upcoming wedding to be held at the beautiful Somerset Resort in the Turks & Caicos Islands.

After hearing and seeing how excited the bride and groom were for their big destination wedding which would take place in the heart of Grace Bay, I knew this was going to be a great wedding to capture.

Michelle and Neil had family and friends traveling from all over the world to be a part of their special day. The Turks and Caicos was to be the perfect location to bring everyone together, almost one hundred guests in total, to celebrate in style with Michelle and Neal.

On the actual wedding day, Anita and I began shooting photos of Michelle and Neil getting ready in separate rooms in their large suite. What many of the guests didn’t know was that Michelle and Neil were planning to do a first look at the close by resort of The Palms before the ceremony took place. The big surprise was for Neal because he didn’t know that his wife-to-be would be wearing stunning traditional Indian clothes instead of the white dress that she was originally going to wear for the ceremony.

The wedding ceremony took place on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Grace Bay, just a few feet away from beautiful turquoise waters and with the Somerset resort behind them.

After the ceremony on the beach, we had just enough time to photograph the family members and close friends, all of whom were overjoyed for the happy couple. The hot sun gradually started to set over the tranquil ocean and everyone was ready for the next part of the wedding, the wedding reception.

Michelle and Neal’s wedding reception took place a few feet away from the beautiful driftwood wedding arch where they had said their ‘I do’s’ just moments before. DJ Dayoh was the one in charge of getting everyone onto the dance floor which was a specially made wooden structure just begging to be partied on.

The wedding party was scheduled to finish at 11pm but it went on for a little longer as none of the guests wanted to stop dancing! We were all enjoying a great night in the company of great people.

Many thanks to:

Tendra Musgrove from Villa del Mar . All the wonderful staff at the Somerset Resort. Flowers: Flowers by EA. Venue: The Somerset Resort . Music DJ Dayoh. Officiant: Pastor Wayde Coleby.

Hannah and kamau’s trash the wedding dress

Just a day after I photographed the wedding of Hannah and Kamau at the Blue Haven Resort & Marina we met once again but this time was for a ‘trash’ the wedding dress

For the first part of the photo shoot we went for a short drive to Leeward beach were we did a quick few photos and then went to the opposite side of the island looking for clear water for the underwater photos.

When we got to Malcolm’s beach the water wasn’t very calm but it actually made it more fun trying to get some photos of Hannah and Kamau on a bicycle underwater. We first started doing some half and half underwater photos and for the perfect ending we did the full underwater ‘trash’ the wedding dress 🙂

Here are a few images of their ‘trash’ the wedding dress…..
